ourMISSION
The Florida Association of Business Tax Officials, Inc. is a professional association meeting the needs of municipal and county business tax officials in Florida.
To provide a professional association whereby business tax officials
may cooperate and consider matters of mutual concern, including the exchange of
ideas and information among the municipalities and counties from throughout the
State of Florida.
To foster and provide sound research, orderly planning and effective
coordination of all elements relating to the field of local business taxes.
To define common issues and problems of local business taxation and
through study and planning work for solutions that are fair to the business
community and benefit the governments that accept our members' proposals.
To educate the general public and the business community about local business
taxation and show how the revenue collected is used to help pay for essential
services that benefit the community.
To provide a means whereby members may discuss and resolve mutual problems and concerns.
To provide an information and referral service bringing members into
prompt contact with other governmental agencies that affect local business
taxes.
To provide and maintain close liaison with local, state and federal government
agencies that are able to assist the organization and its members.
To assist any municipal or county government in revising existing local business tax procedures or in drafting new procedures.
To promptly notify members of proposed changes in state laws that affect local business taxes and work for or against those changes.
To promote statewide education and certification for Business Tax Officials.
To maintain and assist existing local FABTO chapters and actively pursue forming
new chapters throughout the state.
To supply the state legislature with professional input regarding current and
proposed changes to Florida Statutes, Chapter 205.
