Spring 2014
Scholarship applications for the conference registration fee will be available from your chapter president and must be submitted to the chapter for review at least 90 days prior to the conference.
Scholarships will be based on available funds at the chapter and state levels and first time applicants will receive priority. The following items will be taken into consideration:
- You must be a paid member of FABTO at present and for at least one previous year
- Attend 60% or more chapter meetings
- Service to FABTO (Officer, Board of Directors, Committees, etc. at the chapter or state level
- Applicant's efforts to obtain financing from their agency

FABTO's commitment is to the education of business tax professionals working within local governments throughout Florida to ensure the proper administration and collection of Local Business Taxes.
The FABTO Statewide Certification Program was instituted as one of the many tools FABTO utilizes to accomplish this educational goal. FABTO encourages all of its members to participate in the program and looks forward to providing members the educational oppootunities needed in order to obtain certification and remain educated on all details regarding Local Business Taxes in Florida. |
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION Level I
This certificate will be awarded after meeting the following requirements:
-Attendance at all sessions of one (1) state conference including the FS 205 Class.
-Passing a written test on Florida Statutes Chapter 205.
CERTIFIED BUSINESS TAX OFFICIAL (CBTO) Level II
This certificate will be awarded after meeting the following requirements:
-Receiving a Certificate of Completion (see above).
-Attending all sessions of at least two (2) state conferences within three (3) consecutive conferences.
-To become re-certified as a Certified Business Tax Official (CBTO), the FABTO State Education Committee requires that the CBTO obtain an additional eight (8) education hours by attending and participating in one (1) full day, or the equivalent, during any annual FABTO state conference. Re-certification expires at the end of the month three (3) years from the effective date.
SENIOR BUSINESS TAX OFFICIAL (SBTO) Level III
This certificate will be awarded after meeting the following requirements:
-Receiving certification as a Certified Business Tax Official (CBTO)
-Attending a minimum of five (5) state conferences.
-Having served at least two (2) years on a FABTO state or local chapter board or committee.
MASTER BUSINESS TAX OFFICIAL (MBTO) Level IV
This certificate will be awarded after meeting the following requirements:
-Receiving certification as a Senior Business Tax Official (SBTO)
-Attending a minimum of seven (7) state conferences.
-Having served at least four (4) years on the FABTO State Board or committee, or having served at least six (6) years on a Local chapter board or committee, or combined service.
Note:
It shall be the responsibility of the member to request certification and provide written proof of eligibility. The State Board of Directors reserves the right to grant certification of any level to a member upon a majority vote of the state board. Individuals must be a current paid member of FABTO in order to receive certification at any level.
